The Kerem Tunnel offers a unique trail and riding experience to the benefit of

iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/IARj0i5sZlw" width="560" height="315" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> The Kerem Tunnel, Israel's newest bicycle tunnel, has been constructed as a part of a 42-kilometer cycle route that circles the capital.

The tunnel connects Nahal Refaim and Emek Motza. The tunnel's southern entry point can be found in Refaim Park below Ein Laban. The northern entrance can be found in Nahal Ein Kerem about half one kilometer away from the Kerem junction.

On Thursday, Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Zeev Elkin and Mayor Moshelion, Avi Baleshnikov, Gihon chairman and hundreds of cyclists attended a ceremony to inaugurate the tunnel's 2.1-kilometer-long length.

"The opening (of the tunnel) is a further step in the development of Jerusalem, and it's transformation into a sought-after city to visit for all kinds of audiences across Israel as well as across the world."

Elkin who, along with the Jerusalem Municipality spearheaded the project, explained that his ministry "invests hundreds of millions of shekels each year in the improvement of the tourism industry in Jerusalem and the development of new attractions and ventures that connect the glorious historical past of our eternal capital to the future of Jerusalem...
