p>It's a fantastic idea. It's a fantastic initiative. I would have paid millions for something remotely as engaging or videogame-like than Minecraft. Minecraft was used in the classroom as a learning tool. I'd still prefer if the PCGN style guidelines and policies were taught to me through the method of blocks instead of horrible words. As always, the key is to make people enthusiastic about learning so that they are able to enjoy learning and absorb it.

I'd be surprised if Microsoft to offer it for free, but since absolutely all of these students are bound to be hooked once they've spent a bit of time in classes, it's not like there are no upsides.
