p>Minecraft creator on Microsoft deal: "It's about my sanity'

/p>

p>The day after it was announced that Microsoft was buying Minecraft Mojang, a developer of the game, for $2.5bn (PS1.5bn) The Swedish developer behind the game Markus Persson - known as Notch released his own personal statement regarding the acquisition. We have reproduced it in full below:

/p>

p>Mojang has left me

/p>

p>I don't see myself as an actual game developer. I create games to have fun and because I love programming. But I don’t intend to make them huge hits. I also don’t want to make a mark on the world.

/p>

p>Minecraft certainly became a huge success and people are saying it's changed games. I never meant for it to do either. It's flattering, and it's fascinating to slowly be in the public spotlight.

/p>

p>A relatively long time ago, I decided to quit Minecraft development. Jens was the perfect person to lead it, and I wanted to try to do things that were completely new. Although I tried to expand it again at first, I was unsuccessful. But, since I decided to stick with small prototypes, interesting problems have been solved, and I've had so much fun doing my work,

/p>

p>I wasn't sure exactly how I fit into Mojang where people actually did work, but when people told me that I was important to the culture, I decided to stay.

/p>

p>I was home with a bad cold a couple of weeks ago when the internet went wild with rage against me due to some kind of EULA situation which I had nothing to deal with. I was confused. I didn't understand. I tweeted my frustration.

/p>

p>Then, I watched the This is Phil Fish YouTube video and realized that I didn't feel as connected I thought I did to my fans. I've become an image. I don't want to be a symbol. I don't want to be held accountable for something I don’t understand. That I don't want to work on. I'm not an entrepreneur. I'm not a CEO. I'm a geeky computer programer who likes to have opinions on Twitter.

/p>

p>When the deal is completed and signed, I'll leave Mojang to return to web-based experiments and Ludum Dares. I'll probably drop any project that I accidentally create that is successful in gaining traction.

/p>

p>Given my public image which is already a bit distorted by me, I don’t expect to be capable of ignoring negative comments, but at least I won’t feel the need to look them up.

/p>

p>I'm aware this goes against the majority of what I've spoken about in public. I don't have a good answer to that. I also know that a lot of you have used me as a symbol to represent some perceived struggle. https://best-minecraft-servers.xyz/ I'm not. I'm a person , and I'm right there with you.

/p>

p>I am in love with you. All of you. Thank you for turning Minecraft into what it is today however, there are too many of you and I'm not responsible for something this big. In one sense, it's belong to Microsoft today. It's been a part your lives for a long time and will continue to be yours.

/p>

p>It's not just about the money. It's about my mental wellbeing.

/p>
