p>Minecraft developer Mojang Studios is taking a strong stance against NFTs. The studio, which is owned by Microsoft and Microsoft, has declared that integrations of NFTs into Minecraft are not something they will allow or even support.

/p>

p>"To ensure that Minecraft players have an enjoyable and safe experience, blockchain technologies are not permitted to be integrated into our server and client applications, nor can Minecraft in-game content , such as skins, worlds persona items, or other mods, be used by blockchain technology to create a rare digital asset," Mojang said.

p>According to Mojang the studio, some companies have developed "NFT implementations that work with Minecraft world files and skin packs." The studio also suggests that there might be Minecraft "collectible" NFTs or that players can earn NFTs through activities in Minecraft on a server or earning them outside the actual game.

p>Mojang believes that these practices create digital exclusion and scarcity, which goes against the ideals of Minecraft. Mojang has stated that NFTs "are not inclusive of all our communities and create a scenario that has-nots and have-nots are a part of the same." Mojang says that NFTs their speculative nature "encourages profiteering."

p>I strongly suggest that you read the blog post in full, as it succinctly lays out a variety of critiques of NFTs and blockchain projects in a way that's easy to understand. (There are many more quotes that I could have included.)

p>Valve has also taken a an aggressive stance against blockchain games and NFTs on Steam and a large portion of the gaming community has soundly disapproved of NFTs, with Ubisoft discontinuing the production of NFTs for Ghost Recon Breakpoint just a few months after launching the initiative. https://blogfreely.net/memorybaker74/minecraft-with-rtx-now-officially-available-for-all-windows-q0-players Epic Games stated last year that it is "open" to blockchain-based games on the Epic Games Store. The store received the first blockchain-based game in June.

/p>

p>While Mojang does not completely shut the door to adding blockchain technology in the future, it concludes by saying that "we have no plans of adding blockchain technology to Minecraft as of now."
