p>Parents of angry Minecraft gamers have posted on social media to voice their displeasure about "awful" queues and a lack of activities to do during an unofficial convention.

/p>

p>Around 4,100 people attended MineVention at the Peterborough Arena on Saturday to meet star players and take part in games.

/p>

p>However, many people claimed to have waited for hours to meet idols and take food, and are demanding refunds.

/p>

p>Lisa O'Brien, the organizer who organized the event, stated that the lines were too long and she'll issue a statement on refunds on time.

/p>

p>The event, which is not endorsed or associated with Minecraft developer Mojang was first announced in Ireland and this was the first time it took place in the UK.

p>The event, which featured TV's Gadget Show presenter Jason Bradbury as well as a call to fans to dress up as the game's character Steve to try to break a world record.

/p>

p>Then it came under criticism on social media, with people complaining about the long lines and a absence of food and merchandise stalls, and activities for fans.

/p>

p>Vicky Abraham posted on Facebook that she had queued with her five-year-old son for more than an hour just 30 seconds on a laptop.

/p>

p>Another parent claimed she was waiting for 45 minutes to get a water bottle, and said the experience was "appalling" with nothing to do. Another parent called the BBC to say that they had left after half an hours because of the long queues and that her son was "crying all along the way home."

/p>

p>Some posted on Facebook but they left happy, with one comment: "I thought you put on a great event for PS15."

/p>

p>Lisa O'Brien, of O'Brien Event Management O'Brien Event Management, said she did "sympathise with parents, because we all have children". She said queues were 45 minutes long due to a large amount of people who showed up on the day, rather than buying tickets in advance.

/p>

p>She claimed that the event was unprecedented in size and that some official items were not delivered at the right time to allow it to be held.

/p>

p>She said the organisers had "taken on everyone's comments and suggestions" and were scheduled to meet to figure out what went wrong, adding that a second statement would be released on Monday evening.
