p>Minecraft developer Mojang Studios is taking a firm stance against NFTs. http://b3.zcubes.com/v.aspx?mid=8889774 In a blog entry titled "Minecraft and NFTs," the studio which is owned by Microsoft, wrote that "integrations of NFTs with Minecraft are generally not something we will be able to support or allow."

p>Mojang stated that blockchain technology is not allowed to be integrated into our client or server applications. "To ensure that Minecraft users have a safe, inclusive experience, neither will Minecraft in-game content such as skins, worlds, or other items be utilized by blockchain technology to create an exclusive digital asset."

p>Mojang claims that a few companies have created "NFT Implementations that go along with Minecraft World Files and Skin Packs." This suggests that Minecraft players could potentially earn NFTs through playing on a server , or through earning NFTs outside of Minecraft.

p>Mojang argues these practices encourage digital exclusion and scarcity and is against the ideals of Minecraft. "NFTs are not inclusive of all of our community and create a scenario of the haves and have-nots," the studio said. Mojang also says that NFTs' speculative nature "encourages profiteering."

p>Valve has also taken a hard stance against blockchain-based games as well as NFTs on Steam, and much of the gaming community has soundly rejected NFTs as well, and Ubisoft discontinuing the production of NFTs for Ghost Recon Breakpoint just a few months after launching the initiative. Epic Games said last year that it is "open" to blockchain-based games that are available on the Epic Games Store, and the first blockchain game made it to the store in June.

p>Mojang does not completely rule out the possibility of incorporating blockchain technology in the future. However, it says that "we do not plan to integrate blockchain technology into Minecraft currently."
