If you're not wanting to shell out $6.99 for Minecraft - Pocket Edition, then this is the game for you. You begin with a brand-new block world that you can build on and personalize how you want to.

p>The graphics are pretty good in comparison to Minecraft - Pocket Edition, but they could be better. The D-pad is situated on the left-hand side and allows for strafing, forward and backwards. Moving around with the D-pad can be difficult at times. It takes some getting used to, but it is manageable for most of the time. The control on your right side is only for jumping up and it works great. The experience of navigating the terrain was a little jerky, especially when you had to hop over obstacles. Sometimes, the touch targets would not respond until I tapped them several times. It would take more than two taps to break up dirt or grass or blocks using the X button. While I was building and exploring my Solo world, the game crashed often.

p>A base of building materials is given to you. These comprise sand, grass, and bricks. The steel skeleton blocks are unique to iLands as I've never seen anything like them in Minecraft - Pocket Edition. The steel skeleton blocks are amazing because you can build solid structures and enjoy a view and light unlike building with solid blocks. I loved building with cobblestone for houses and roads. The materials with locks can be removed by purchasing the full version. This review was done with the free version.

p>If you're looking for the survival mode, which is similar to Minecraft - Pocket Edition, you will not find it in the free version of iLands. I'm not sure if a similar feature to survival is available in the paid version. p>If you like building blocks in a virtual world, iLands is a worthwhile free download. I would be interested to learn what the paid version allows you to do, apart from unlocking building materials. I loved building buildings, as well as any other projects my imagination could create.
