p>After selling an incredible 100 million copies (and counting), the world of Minecraft continues to grow today with new features and functionality. Announced at E3 the new "Friendly Update" lets Minecraft players on Windows 10, iOS and Android (including the Gear VR edition) game together online in the same Realms, no matter what the device.

p>This update follows the launch last year of cross-platform multiplayer on local networks. The new update is out today but the Minecraft folks also revealed two significant enhancements specific to the mobile-friendly "Pocket Edition." These are texture packs, which arrive today and allow you to alter in-game aesthetics, and add-ons that allow you to alter the world of the game further (create zombies that shoot fireballs for example), landing this autumn. These updates will also be available for Minecraft console versions later in the year. Be sure to complete your homework, children.
