p>Microsoft has confirmed that Mojang and Minecraft will join its ranks, but will continue to make the game available across iOS, Android and PlayStation as well as on Xbox and PC The company announced today. Microsoft claims that they initially discussed bringing the game to Xbox and then discovered their immense success and decided to acquire them to "diversify [its] games portfolio."

/p>

p>The team announced that Markus "Notch" Persson and Carl Manneh, founders of Mojang, have quit the company after the acquisition. Mojang's official website confirmed the purchase price was $2.5 billion. In their post the Mojang community team declares that Notch was hesitant to control such a globally powerful company, and prefers to focus on smaller projects. The decision was made to allow Minecraft to continue to grow while allowing the founders to pursue other interests.

p>Mojang does not give any guarantees regarding the future plans for Minecraft however it has stated that it will continue to operate as normal. Microsoft states that it "respect[sMinecraft's name and its independent spirit" and will continue projects like MINECON, an annual convention focused on the game started by Mojang in 2010.

p>The community reaction to this news will be mixed. Minecraft fans who have been playing the game since its inception will likely be skeptical of the new corporate owners. But, the rationale behind the purchase is solid. We'll get the chance to see if Notch can repeat the feat, and the next generation of Lego counterparts.

p>Here are Notch's thoughts on the deal and his decision to leave the company he created. This is from his blog, which had crashed at the time the article was written. :

p>Mojang has left me

/p>

p>It was a long time ago that I made the decision to quit Minecraft development. Jens was the ideal person to take over leading it, and I was keen to experiment with something new. Although I tried to make it large initially it ended up failing. However I've made the decision to stick to small-scale prototypes, interesting challenges, and I have had so much fun doing my work, it's been a lot easier. I wasn't sure what my place was in Mojang where people do actual work, but since people said I was important for the culture, I stayed.

/p>

p>A couple of weeks ago, I was suffering from a severe cold at home, and the internet went on a rage about me for a EULA situation that I was not in. I was confused. I didn't understand. That was my frustration. Later I watched the This is Phil Fish video on YouTube and realized I didn't have the connection to my fans I thought I did. I've become an image. I don't want to be a symbol. I don't want be accountable for something I don't understand. That I don't want to do anything about. https://best-minecraft-servers.xyz/ I'm not an entrepreneur. I'm not a CEO. I'm a geeky computer programmer who enjoys sharing my opinions on Twitter.

/p>

p>Once the deal is done, I will be leaving Mojang to go back to web-based experiments and Ludum Dares. If I make something that appears to gain traction, I'll probably abandon the project immediately.

/p>

p>Given that my public image is somewhat skewed, I don't expect to avoid negative comments through this however, at least for now I don't feel the need to read them.

/p>

p>I'm aware that this is in contradiction to a lot of what I've spoken about in public. I don't have a good answer to that. I also know that a lot of you have used me as a symbol for some perceived struggle. I'm not. I'm a person, and I'm right there struggling with you.

/p>

p>I love you. Everyone of you. I am grateful to you for making Minecraft what it is today. But there are too many of us and I am not responsible for something like this. It's Microsoft's property in a certain sense. It's been a part of your lives for a long time, and will continue to be yours.

/p>

p>It's not about the money. It's about my sanity.
