p>If you threw a bunch of gaming terms into a hat, then pulled them out one at a time and arranged them in order, you might have an approximate description for the upcoming Deepworld. It's a 2D, steampunk post-apocalyptic sandbox game with Minecraft-style creation, and block graphics that allow players access to a vast and vast world of games. Deepworld is like it's too appealing to be true to its promises, however its developers Bytebin comprised of three men with plenty of experience in server architecture, but not as much experience in game design and development, understand what they're promising.

/p>

p>The version they showed me at GDC last weekend certainly lived up to their promise. Not only did it include two of their characters roaming across the globe together, but it also included the entire game. Deepworld's graphics might not look amazing on the screen (they are... "stylistic" according to some) however, there's an appeal in the world as you explore further. The game's beauty only revealed after a shelter was constructed with lighting fixtures and pools of light.

/p>

p>There's a lot of beauty to be found in the different mechanics. The game's creator describes it as "a game that is based on a type of scarcity", which refers to all the resources found in this initially barren world. As you dig down, lava can be found that creates steam, which is then transformed into pipes and used to power technology. There's a crafting feature, but unlike Minecraft (where items have to be found and built) the game simply provides a menu of what's available to build from the different resources you've collected.

/p>

p>The interface is nice as well -- it's possible to build whatever you like using the cursor on the Mac version, and while the iOS version is still in development ("There's a few kinks with touch," Bytebin says) it will be able to "draw" your designs on the iPad's display will be very nice.

/p>

p>The biggest problem with Deepworld probably isn't in the game, however: It's likely to be in keeping the servers running. The title is subdivided into 1200x800 blocks "zones," and the developers hope to limit those zones to a specific number of players (and possibly charge players to modify and save these zones). However, there is a metagame in "improving each ecosystem" and it's not difficult to see the ways Bytebin might face problems in the event that it becomes very popular in order to keep its servers in operation.

/p>

p>Bytebin understands the concern (and also, the team's experience includes managing large servers for large software companies and they're an opportunity to win at the very least), but we'll find out for sure what they'll do when the game is released to an open beta later on this year. Alpha will begin "in the next few weeks" and there is a beta signup available for the game. Deepworld is stunning, and it's an iOS and Mac game we'll be proud to own. https://squareblogs.net/bamboosuede94/you-can-now-use-the-infinity-gauntlet-in-minecraft </p>
