p>Here's a glimpse of Minecraft's Survival Mode, which paid customers will be able to play in a week's time (September 1st). There's been a lot added since we first wrote about the game, such as swimming cave pigs. Yes, they are swimming cave pigs. And they have a taste for flesh, but only if it's in a Hot Pocket.

/p>

p>You can find out more about the forthcoming release right here.

/p>

p>Jwill Great! I can't wait to play. But, is this a game? I believe this is a toy.

/p>

p>- Quetz Oh boy oh boy oh boy.

/p>

p>- citricsquid minecraft gets better everyday I had no idea it would be becoming this awesome. It's stunning.

/p>

p>- sqrrl YES

/p>

p>- Behemoth Holy crap. This made me realize how small my place in the world is. It is proof that Notch is a GOD. He created Minecraft and will rest in what on the seventh day. Indonesia?

/p>

p>- wiivn It's better, but I don’t like the idea that slower destroyed bricks and the limitations of construction are combined... It's going to look like the standard mmo.

/p>

p>- MasterShake What is Survival Mode could it be? It doesn't even have Wiivn's healthbar.

/p>

p>Scott Wiivn is quite retarded

/p>

p>Wiivn Scott not as sluggish as your mother.

/p>

p>- http://0xdeadc0de.org Eclipse calm down kids...

/p>

p>It is better to have a build mode , as well as a survival mode where you only have the ability to dig a small amounts of stuff and you have to explore dungeons designed by other people and the game appears to be an editor with an arcade game in the middle or a game that runs in the fancy "debug mode "... it doesn't look nor a game or a world builder

/p>

p>" ngajoe Man...I was excited. When it mentioned "survival mode," I was thinking along the lines of Stranded 2. Now that was a great survival mode!

/p>

p>-- Nicholas Lee I don't know whether it's me or not, but I still don’t "get" this game.

/p>

p>Eagle Guys, Notch is still in sandbox mode. If any of you actually read his website, you'll notice he is making zombie siege, survival mode, mode, etc. and he's keeping the sandbox mode. The game is still in alpha, and only about a month old. It's not yet a real game, but it's an toy. Notch is still working on the game's many modes. :P

/p>

p>- Malasdair I think Minecraft will be fantastic in the next year. Is he using a pay-now-to-help-me-develop format?

/p>

p>- citricsquid @malasdair, basically. The pre-ordering process has allowed him to switch to working in Minecraft for 60 percent of the time, the other 40% of the time for his IRL "outside of his house" job, since he'd go mad working alone for the majority of the time. So yes we're paying the ability to develop it more :D

/p>

p>Gutter Nicholas Lee: It's not an actual game but I don't think it is. We're not crazy.

/p>

p>- FISH I wish the art wasnt so muddy and heavily pixelated.

/p>

p>it would be so nice of it had a cleaner design, like the megaman legends.

/p>

p>Can the game be customized with textures? that would be great. id make one.

/p>

p>- Tim L. I hold a patent on the words "Mine", "Craft", and "Scott's Mother" and you're all being sued.

/p>

p>- Nobody I have never liked the super pixelated art style in indie games. If it's not serving an objective in the game then it's just fatiguing your eyes.

/p>

p>Okay, you don't look like a typical game, I'm sure of it but you now look like every other badly rendered indie game.

/p>

p>- sinoth I find the pixelized textures to be extremely delicious.

/p>

p>- ngajoe Concur with sinoth. Hurrah for teh Pixels!

/p>

p>-- Schwerpunk I've never thought about the graphical style. It just seems to fit.

/p>

p>And Notch has said he will release a DRM-free download version which means you could simply swap out the texture files that are included in that.

/p>

p>The game is a great illustration of how important it is for players to accomplish what they want to Notch.

/p>

p>- Anon is introducing the Dungeons and Levers Expansion Pack

/p>

p>+ Dungeon Mode. Similar to Survival, but you aren't able to destroy walls or craft objects. + Programmable Tiles. Pressure plates, levers, doors. Plus more mobs. + More useful items. (Potions? Teleporter stones? https://30tt.com/ Keys?) + Official public level format + Play on either randomly generated levels or player-generated levels + 100% for all players who have purchased the game!

/p>

p>- contra Looks great. While I didnt really have the time to get into creating things in the beta sandbox it's still interesting to take a look. Also I hope the music in the video is actually in the game because it fits perfectly and I'm getting bored of the chiptunes.

/p>

p>-- Sparky Every time I see this game, it makes me believe that there are millions of incredible ideas that are yet to be explored.

/p>

p>(P.S. I'm kind of with Fish on the deliberately low resolution textures, but that's totally a subjective call.)

/p>

p>This build really looks a lot more polished than the previous one I played. Keep up the good work!

/p>

p>FISH What I'm saying is that the textures should remain the same resolution, but be cleaned up, and use less colors.

/p>

p>Low-res is excellent but there's more to it than just having a low resolution. Every pixel counts. Every pixel has a weight. They don't have weight as of now.

/p>

p>" Sparky Yes, I understand what you're saying about the textures, and I'm with you. Sorry if my words were not precise. Megaman Legends is an excellent example of a game that uses low resolution and low color depth textures, but isn’t intentionally imprecise or cluttered. It has a wide range of solid colors as well as nice hand-pixelled details.
