p>Microsoft has confirmed that Mojang and Minecraft will join its ranks, but it'll continue to make the game available across iOS, Android and PlayStation as well as on Xbox and PC The company announced today. Microsoft claims that they began discussions about bringing the title to the Xbox console after which they saw their huge success and made the decision to purchase the game to "diversify [its] game portfolio."

/p>

p>The founders Markus "Notch" Persson, Carl Manneh and Jakbok Porser have left Mojang following the acquisition that the team announced. Mojang's official website confirmed that the purchase price was $2.5 billion. The Mojang community team stated that Notch was not averse to controlling such an enterprise of size and prefers to work on smaller projects. The sale was made to allow Minecraft to continue growing while allowing the founding team to pursue other interests.

p>Mojang has not provided any guarantees regarding the future plans for Minecraft however it has stated that it will continue its business as usual. Microsoft claims that it "respect[sthe brand name and the spirit of independence" of Minecraft and will continue to work on projects like MINECON the annual convention focused on the game begun by Mojang in 2010.

p>The community's reaction to this news will be mixed. Minecraft fans who have been playing the game since it was first introduced will likely be skeptical of the new owners. However, the logic behind the purchase is solid. We'll have the opportunity to see if Notch will be able to repeat the feat, and the next generation of Lego similar games.

p>Here are Notch's thoughts on the deal and his decision to exit the company he built. This is from his blog, which had been down since the time the article was written. :

p>Mojang has left me

/p>

p>A relatively long time ago, I made the choice to step down from Minecraft development. Jens was the ideal person to lead it, and I wanted to experiment with new things. In the beginning, I failed by trying to make something big again but since I've decided to stick to small prototypes and challenging tasks I've had a lot of fun with work. I wasn't certain how I fit into Mojang where people do actual work, but since people said I was important to the culture, I stayed.

/p>

p>I was home with a cold a few weeks ago when the internet went wild with rage against me due to some sort of EULA situation which I had nothing to deal with. I was confused. I didn't understand. I tweeted this in frustration. Later, I saw the This is Phil Fish video and realized that I didn't have the connection I thought I did with my fans. I've become a symbol. I don’t want to be a symbol. I don’t want to be responsible for something that I don't understand. That I don’t want to work on. I'm not an entrepreneur. https://canvas.instructure.com/eportfolios/1448816/Home/Visualizing_Statistics_In_Minecraft I'm not an executive chief. I'm a nerdy computer programmer who likes to have opinions on Twitter.

/p>

p>When the deal is completed and I'm done, I'll be leaving Mojang and will return to web-based experiments and Ludum Dares. If I ever accidentally make something that appears to gain momentum, I'll probably end it right away.

/p>

p>In light of the fact that the public image of me already is a bit disorganized, I don't anticipate to get away from negative comments through this, but at least now I won't feel a responsibility to read them.

/p>

p>This is in direct contradiction to many of my public statements. I don't have a good answer to that. I am also aware that many of you have used me as a symbol to represent the perceived struggle. I'm not. I'm a person , and I'm right there with you.

/p>

p>I am in love with you. You are all amazing. Thank you for making Minecraft into what it is now however there are far too many of you, and I'm not able to be the sole person to be responsible for something this massive. It's Microsoft's property in a certain sense. It's been a part your lives for a long time and will continue to be yours.

/p>

p>It's not about the money. It's about my mental health.
