I like minecraft, frequently. It needs some tweaks to make me more interested in minecraft. I'm planning to document these now:

First, you need mcpatcher, so we can use HD texture packs and install mods. Get it here: https://github.com/pclewis/mcpatcher/downloads

I'm using Linux and I require the .jar file. You can run it via

This should open an easy GUI. We'll get to this in a minute. https://www.openlearning.com/u/enemarkhovmand-ria0bt/blog/LearnHowWeCreatedPrisonMinecraftServersFinalMonth

Then, we'll need the appropriate mods:

- Auto switcher allows you to automatically switch to the best tool for the job; the right type of pick for mining, axe for cutting, etc. http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/753030-131125-thebombzens-mods-now-with-autoswitch-2/

OptiFine: Minecraft has many performance issues. OptiFine smooths these out and provides higher-quality graphics for users with faster computers. http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/249637-131-optifine-hd-b1-fps-boost-hd-textures-aa-af-and-much-more/

ModLoader: Although I don't remember why I've installed it, I suspect it is for a reason. http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/75440-v131-risugamis-mods-preliminary-updates/

Once you have all the mods installed, start Mcpatcher. And add a bunch of mods (Mods -> Add in the menu). Also point it at your minecraft.jar. https://telegra.ph/Minecraft-Gift-Code-Generator-09-16 Should be located in ~/.minecraft/bin/.

Check that only the following mods are checked, and ensure they appear in the same order. To rearrange them, use the arrows on the bottom of the GUI

1. AutoSwitchMod

2. ModLoader

3. OptiFine

4. Custom Colors

5. Random Mobs

6. Connected Textures

7. Better Skies

Click on patch. Mcpatcher is likely to be annoyed, but click yes.

Finally we'll need a reliable texture package. I like this one: http://bdcraft.net/download-purebdcraft-texturepack-for-minecraft, 128 bit. It's much more powerful and Minecraft doesn't seem to handle itself very well. Download it and save the .zip to ~/.minecraft/texturepacks. You should be able to select it from the menu in game.
