There is no immunity to love. You can’t purchase love. Love is not a disease; there is no diagnosis or cure. Some might say they are immune to the ‘lovy dovy’ aspect of it. Perhaps so, but it is probably a trick because no one knows what love is up to next.

Love is intangible. Love is tangible. Yes, love can be felt and seen but cannot be grasped and understood. We enjoy the fruits and horrors love offers but cannot control love. It’s frightening. Yet, is makes our world spin.

So maybe this is a crude analogy, but if I compare the relationship to the three bodies of the American governement -- legislative, executive, and judicial -- then in my view what would work best might be something like this: The man is the executive branch, so he makes the executive decisions, and holds veto power; he also holds a monopoly on the use of force, much like the president is commander of the armed forces. The woman is the judicial branch, whose job is to think deeply, interpret and advise. Both partners together participate in the legislative process, which here means agreeing to the rules (if any) and boundaries of their relationship. (Again, the man holds veto power.) That way, they are both fully participating in the relationship, but they do not have equal executive authority. (And this is a very crude simplification of the three branches of government, obviously; let's not nitpick those details.)
